Monday, 4th September 2017 Weekly Note

WELCOME BACK

A big welcome back is extended to all our pupils throughout the school, with a particular welcome to our new recruits.  Joining us in P.1 are James, Megan, Senán, Saorla, Sean Óg, Cormac, Aoife, Grace, Aoife-Rose, Anna and Daniel.  We extend a warm welcome to all pupils new and ‘established’, we hope and trust that you will have a very enjoyable and rewarding year ahead.

As always we encourage parents to play an active role in their child/children’s education and invite you to contact the teacher concerned should your child encounter any trouble ‘settling in’ or indeed at any time of the year.  We value the interest of you, our parents and trust that we can rely on your support for the coming year.

UNIFORM

All children are looking resplendent in their new school sweaters and cardigans.  May we ask you to take time to ensure that all children’s clothing is labelled so as to avoid any unnecessary confusion.

HEADLICE

This is not always a topic we like to discuss but just a simple reminder to remain vigilant as to the possibility of the presence of lice in your child’s hair.

MILK

For those children who wish to take milk, the cost for the new term which takes us to Christmas is £9.  Payment should be made by Wednesday of this week as the first order of milk begins Thur. 7th September.

DINNER MONEY

Parents should be aware that the cost of a school dinner has increased to £2.60.  Please note that money can only be handed in to the office from Monday to Wednesday.  Payment by cheque for school dinners should be made out to E A Western Region.  Any family who feel they may be entitled to Free School Meals can make relevant enquiries to WELB tel. 8241 1496.

WELCOME CASEY

We welcome along Casey McGinty from Sacred Heart College who will be completing a week’s work experience in our Foundation Stage classes.  Enjoy your stay Casey!

PAT DARCY R.I.P.

The school community was very sad to learn of the death of Pat Darcy during the summer.  Pat, of course, had served as Chairman of the Board of Governors from January 2002 until the time of his death, a role he carried out with the standards of excellence one would expect from Pat.  He was a very wise, capable and supportive Governor and his expertise will be greatly missed.

He was also, of course, a parent and more recently a grandparent of many of our past and current pupils and was always a friendly face at pick up times at the end of the school day.

To his children, Claire, Sean, Sarah and Louise, his beloved grandchildren and wider family circle, we extend our heartfelt sympathy.
