Monday, 19th February 2018 Weekly Note

WELCOME BACK

Welcome back to all our pupils after our mid-term. Hopefully all are suitably refreshed for our new half-term which will bring us up to Easter.

GIRLS INDOOR GAELIC

Good luck to our girls who will be participating in the Allianz Cumann na mBunscoil Indoor Gaelic competition on Wednesday morning – hopefully they can replicate the efforts of our boys who performed so admirably earlier in the month.

FAMILY MASS

As part of the Drumragh Parish ‘Amoris Lenten Family Mission’ the school has been asked to provide a choir for Thursday night’s 7.30pm Mass in the Sacred Heart Church. We appeal for as many pupils from P.4 – P.7 to come along and lend their support so as to ensure we are heard in the large confines of the Sacred Heart Church. Thank you in advance for your support.

BEE SAFE DAY

Pupils in P.6/7 are off to Omagh Leisure Complex on Friday when they will participate in the bi-annual ‘Bee Safe’ day. This day will educate our pupils on aspects of personal safety including workshops from agencies such as the Fire & Rescue Service, the Ambulance Service, the Police Service and Electricity Board amongst others.

As pupils will return to school before lunch, no special eating arrangements are required.

SIGN LANGUAGE CLASSES

There has been an offer of provision for a short course in teaching sign language. Should you be interested in such a course, please notify the school so that we can establish the level of interest before organising.

SPEAK OUT/STAY SAFE

As part of our ongoing commitment to safeguarding pupils, the NSPCC will be visiting the school next Wednesday (28th February) to deliver their ‘Speak Out, Stay Safe’ programme. This will involve a presentation for all pupils during the morning followed by a
Parents’ Workshop in the afternoon (2.15 – 3.15pm). This parental workshop will enable parents to understand the dangers of their children being online and build confidence to have those important conversations to ensure children stay safe. Further details on this programme will be issued during the week.

POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR POLICY

A revised policy on ‘Positive Behaviour’ was approved at a recent Board of Governors meeting and in line with legislative requirements, this policy will be open for consultation with parents until Friday, 2nd March. This policy will be found on our website www.sacredheartprimary.com under the ‘consultations’ tab. Should you require a ‘hard copy’ feel free to contact the school. Any contributions, thoughts or opinions can be submitted in writing on or before 2nd March 2018.
